That Little Voice in our Head…

That Little Voice in our Head…

It’s never a bad decision to choose yourself!

How do we best manage that little voice inside our heads sending us negative messages, that little birdie telling us stories that no longer fit with our lifestyle and who we are today? “But I don’t want to shut up this voice and it’s dark messages because it’s a part of me.” How do I balance the bad messages with the good guiding ones?

Allow and engage, embrace all of who you are, even that little Voice of Negative messages. GIVE GRATITUDE for the option it tells you. But YOU DECIDE, you make the decision to take that negativity or to make a different choice. YOU DECIDE what is best for you. Some days it just may be that Voice of Negativity you crave, but you don’t have to let it over-take your choices.

YOU DECIDE. CHOOSE YOU!

Transforming Rejection into Opportunity

Transforming Rejection into Opportunity

How does one approach the feeling of rejection?
How can I better navigate through the feelings of being rejected?
#mytruth
This week I was experiencing the uglies that come along with a sense of rejection. I was confused, I was upset with myself, disappointed and very very aware of my thoughts too. I knew I was making a choice. My choice was to create a story where I was being rejected and that it was a bad thing and that I should feel bad too. I quickly began to question my story and this is what unfolded. I asked myself, “How do you want to feel?“ Yes, that’s the million-dollar question. Thanks, mom! Why did I want to feel bad and why was I choosing to create a story of rejection? I decided to turn my rejection into opportunity. I began to create a New Story. I realized and recognized that the Universe has a bigger plan and a better one too. This rejection is actually an opportunity for me to let go of something and move forward towards something else, maybe something better than I had imagined. I may not have the answer as to why, but I know the answers would be revealed to me at the right time. I reminded myself to have faith in the unknown, it’s always served me in the past. This allowed me to let go of that limiting story that I had created making me question my strengths. Instead, I chose ME. I chose to feel good about the situation and turn it into an opportunity rather than thinking of it as only rejection. What a feeling of relief and FLOW. This was a gift. Yes, I turned around my story and limiting belief in no time, imagining the possibilities and OPPORTUNITY!!!! #iLoveYouWorld #iLoveMyLife

Happy Mother’s Day

Please allow me to share with you my most amazing mom, Vi.
My Ma has and continues to teach me to be a loving and generous person.
I will share with you that my Ma is a nurturer, a healer, a supporter, a guide and a teacher.
Ma is a lifelong volunteer in her community by ways of hospice care and helping the elderly in their homes.

Ma has always put her “Family first” and we all know she has our back
in all that we do. She is at all our performances and life events,
locally and on the road, she travels thousands of miles to visit us
and to care for her family. She has unconditional love for her family
that is an undeniable expression of who she is.

My Ma, taught me many things in my life thus far and the most meaningful
for me are Love, Gratitude, Compassion and Acceptance.

My Ma taught me that ‘Confidence is Beautiful’.

Project of Smiling Masks

Project of Smiling Masks, by Carol Thosath

Meet my friend and artist, Carol Thosath. She has a #personalstyle of her own and she wears it with a smile.
Here is her story of what brought her to ‘Project of Smiling Masks’.

“You don’t look like an artist!” Since I am an artist, that comment caused me to consider, what does an artist look like?

Thus, I began to channel some of my creativity into my wardrobe. It gave me another expressive outlet that seemed to encourage my creativity in general. I now feel a sense of pride and pleasure in finding this part of myself.

The colder months are my favorite because I can layer and play with my clothes to create little works of art, some more successful than others!
I usually start with a comfy T-shirt, then the layering process begins evolving and changing combinations.

Dresses and skirts are my first choice, over pants, for comfort and femininity. Clothes that fit where I am smaller (upper body, hips and legs) and are looser around my chubby tummy, seem the most flattering. If asked, I will probably deny caring about the “flattering” part and proclaim to pick fun and interesting over pride, if I had to choose, but, still….!

My husband used to encourage me to wear blue jeans. One day his dream came true, to which he responded, “You’re right! Not everyone should wear blue jeans!”

It’s hard to find clothes that I love and can afford, so often I sew them or buy clothes to remodel, removing sleeves to convert to pockets, adding ticks, buttons, etc.

A boyfriend once said, “It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed!”
I like that philosophy and refuse to “dress down for a culture that won’t dress up!” I believe people can be comfortable and look good at the same time with the added bonuses of pride and confidence!

So, thank you to the man who seemed to question my authenticity based on my appearance! He, inadvertently, nudged me into discovery!

Addendum: Now, we are in the middle of a pandemic! While wearing my mask, it has bothered me that people could not tell if I was smiling at them-so my Project of Smiling Masks was born! They make people happy, both the wearers and the observers!

Int’l Women’s Day 2020

Int’l Women’s Day 2020

Be your Authentic You

I enjoy creating new looks for myself that are inspired by styles of the 1920’s through to the 1940’s. I don’t mind people staring at me when I walk into the party or event wearing something they never would have put together. And I love to wear a hat with a feather in it. This is the Authentic Me headed to two birthday parties here in San Francisco. I felt like a star!

Wear your RED.

Wear your RED.

Valentine’s Day is approaching…are you READY?

This Valentine’s Day, will you choose to wear RED for a special night or to the office,
or maybe just to feel fabulous like I do when I wear RED!
I do like receiving compliments when I wear my RED beret. It most definitely reminds me
that I’m doing something right by choosing RED as it complements my blue eyes.

Whatever color you choose to wear tomorrow or on Valentine’s Day, I hope it lifts your spirit, energizes your soul
and puts a smile on your face as you walk out the door!
